Park Central is enjoying a flurry of leasing activity as the project pushes closer to its grand opening this spring.
A number of new and renewed leases have been signed for space at the revitalized property, which is nearing completion of its initial redevelopment phase. The project is already becoming a magnetic draw with a broad diversity of tenants, representing the intersection of business, education, technology, innovation and public investment.
The leases include:
- Nerdery, a digital business consulting firm, has signed a seven-year lease for an 8,317 square foot space in the Leib Building at Park Central. The company is scheduled to move in on June 1. The company has moved temporarily into the spec suite at Park Central outlined below. Nerdery is a digital business consultancy that takes companies from today to their digital future, working at the leading edge of strategy, design and technology to help clients evolve and thrive. By focusing on business outcomes, Nerdery crafts impactful digital experiences and infrastructures that accelerate digital transformations, innovations, modernizations and operational initiatives. Nerdery was founded in 2003 and has offices in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Phoenix.
- The Creighton University College of Nursing has moved its nursing program into Park Central while the new Creighton University Health Sciences Campus is under construction. The Creighton presence includes an 8,027 square foot space. The current space is home to approximately 100 nursing students.
- Most of the previously existing Park Central tenants have renewed or expanded their leases, including Starbucks, First Watch, Jamba Juice, Fired Pie, Jimmy Johns, Pita Bistro, Kobalt Bar and Thai Basil. These tenants are renewing their leases because of the excitement about the influx of new business to the property.
- ArtLink has moved its offices to Park Central and are working on arts and culture programming and collaboration within Park Central, including a wide variety of artists and arts organizations. They are also coordinating local artist displays in the spec suite that has been built out at Park Central.
- And on that subject, the Park Central team has completed an 18,449 square foot spec suite that showcases the modern, interactive office environment that’s possible at the new Park Central. It features large conference and training spaces, privates offices and huddle rooms with glass interior walls, collaborative areas, bike racks, personal lockers, and a roll-up garage door connected to a large outdoor covered patio.
“We’re very pleased with the leasing activity we have seen so far at Park Central as we approach the grand opening this spring,” said Stan Shafer, Chief Operating Officer of Holualoa Companies, a co-developer of the project. “Park Central is well on its way to being a bustling, thriving mixed-use project and we are pleased to welcome in so many great new organizations.”
Plaza Companies and Tucson’s Holualoa Companies are teaming up to redevelop Park Central Mall, which once was the city’s first official large-scale shopping mall. The companies are transitioning the expansive space from a retail center to an almost 500,000-square-foot bustling community hub ideal for playing, working, congregating and celebrating the arts.
Sharon Harper, President & CEO of Plaza Companies, said the vision for the revitalized Park Central is now starting to become a reality.
“Park Central is already seeing the kind of buzz and activity that we envisioned when we started the revitalization effort,” she said. “We’re seeing an incredible mix of companies including technology, office, education, arts, incubator space and hospitality. It is gratifying to see such a broad mix of organizations come to the new Park Central and to bring the project to life.”
“Phoenix is an attractive market for talent because of the business-friendly policies, low cost of living and increasing opportunities for careers. As the Nerdery continues to grow, we’re constantly looking to add to our team, and Phoenix has provided us with a really solid group of people,” Danny Estavillo, Nerdery West Region Managing Director said. “Phoenix has the perfect mix of talent and opportunity to take Nerdery to the next level and allow us to deliver better services to our clients, and the Park Central space is ideal because of its exceptional location within the city.”
The new Park Central includes 450,000 square feet of Class A creative office space available for lease with the ability to accommodate tenants ranging from 3,500 square feet to more than 100,000 square feet in size. It features exclusive tenant patios, on-site restaurants and amenities, a stunning mid-century modern design, 15-25 foot ceilings, extensive bike paths and light rail access and ample parking.
